Oak trees planted to mark house building milestone

House builder Barratt Homes has announced the completion of its 400,000th home and unveiled a new brand identity which will be rolled out across the UK.

Reflecting the importance of green space, nature, and the ecology and biodiversity of new home developments, Barratt Homes will plant 400,000 trees and shrubs over the next 18 months in celebration of reaching this landmark milestone.

Marking the occasion, both Richard Burden MP for Birmingham and Northfield and Birmingham City Council Ward Councillor Peter Griffiths, planted an oak tree at the Kings Rise development on Walkers Heath Road in Kings Norton.

The firm said that the oak tree is important to the brand and that as well as representing its commitment to sustainability and planting, the iconic tree is at the heart of the home builder's logo.

‘It's an incredible achievement for the company to have reached such a milestone and what better way to celebrate than planting a Barratt Homes oak tree,’ said Adrian Farr, managing director at Barratt Homes West Midlands.

‘Here in the West Midlands our aim to not just build houses but to integrate those properties into the new and existing communities. Our staff work very hard to build and deliver the homes of our customer's dreams,’ he added.
