Ringo Starr puts exclusive riverside US ranch up for sale

Beatles legend Ringo Starr is selling his ranch in Aspen, Colorado, which he bought over 20 years ago and which has one of the longest river frontages in the area.

The 70 year old Beatles drummer and his wife, Barbara, are asking $4.5 million for their three bedroom holiday home which sits on around 16 acres in Woody Creek with a frontage on the Roaring Fork River.

Being sold exclusively through Christies International Real Estates, it is described as being a boutique ranch and was built in 1987 and bought by the couple in 1990.

Starr, who continues to tour with his All Starr Band, is selling up because he doesn’t have the time to visit. It will not be listed on the usual listing services and only those who are deemed to be serious potential buyers will be able to view the property. They will be interviewed before being considered.

It is just one of a number of interesting and exclusive properties being sold by Christies International Real Estates, the crème de la crème of the property world.

Another is one of the most exclusive mansions in Paris. Palais Montmorency on Avenue Foch, was built in 1912 for the Duchess of Montmorency. At her death in 1927, the house was acquired by le roi de l'étain and famous art collector Antenor Patino. In the house, several decoration elements are of historical importance, such as 18th Century panels, fireplaces. The painted ceiling of the great dining room is by the French painter Henri Rousseau.

In Beverly Hills, California, Beverly House, the legendary house created by architect Gordon Kaufmann, which was purchased by actress Marion Davies in 1946 for William Randolph Hearst, the most powerful publishing magnate of the 20th Century, is for sale.

Built of terra-cotta stucco, the H shaped residence is regarded as a perfect combination of Spanish and Italian style with floor to ceiling windows, overlooking the famous cascading waterfalls to the pool, it is for sale for US$95 million.

Former US president John Kennedy and his wife Jacqueline Kennedy stayed there during their honeymoon. It was also used in several classic films including The Godfather starring Marlon Brando and The Bodyguard, starring Kevin Costner.

For those with a smaller budget but big ideas, Porcupine Creek in Rancho Mirage, California has its own 19 hole golf course, ranked by Golf Digest as the 13th best course in the entire state. The 249 acre expanse encompasses the grand main residence, multiple guest accommodations, spa facilities and a gymnasium, an expansive pool area for US$55 million.
