Cheapest and most expensive home sales in England and Wales revealed

The latest data from the land registry shows that the cheapest home sold in England and Wales was just £14,000 and the most expensive over £16 million at the end of 2016.

Overall the official data shows that some 31,955 sales took place in England and Wales in December 2016.

Some 610 were properties in England and Wales worth £1 million and over while 365 properties worth over a million pounds were sole in London in the last month of the year.

The most expensive was in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea where a terraced home sold for £16.2 million 00,000 while at the other end of the market a terraced property in Peterlee, County Durham, sold for £14,000.

The data also shows that a total of the 87,678 sales of residential and commercial land and properties lodged for registration in December some 64,924 were freehold properties and 8,051 were new builds.

Some 19,758 were detached properties, 22,349 were semi-detached, 23,112 were terraced properties and 16,526 were flats or maisonettes.

The most expensive commercial sale in December 2016 was in the London Borough of Camden for £96,350,000 and the cheapest was in Minehead, West Somerset for £400.

The data also shows that the Land Registry completed more than 1,271,900 applications with most coming from the South East with 295,204.

The Land Registry completed 1,271,984 applications from its customers in December of which 345,451 were applications in respect of registered land, 528,513 were applications to obtain an official copy of a register or title plan, 198,658 were searches and 83,762 were transactions for value.
