Cape Verde hits luxury

Cape Verde is emerging as both a tourism and second home destination but as more property investors make inquiries the demand for luxury property is on the increase.

And the good news for those wishing to invest in this West African archipelago is that the top end of the market is not just affordable but has luxury without the usual price tag.

Beautiful beaches, clear blue water and year-round sunshine are sited as just some of the reasons for increased interest and consistently good weather, making these islands an all year round destination.

'Unlike some of the emerging markets in Eastern Europe, Cape Verde's climate virtually guarantees investors an all-year-round return,' said Sarah Brown from NuBricks.com. Accessibility improvements have led to the country attracting a record number of foreign visitors.

That makes property in Cape Verde potentially a better option than places such as Bulgaria and Croatia as it has a longer holiday season. Therefore, there is demand for rental property over a greater period of time.

There are a handful of six-star residential resorts currently available. One is Boa Vista, the furthest east of the Cape Verde archipelago and known as the 'island of beaches and dunes', where Palm View Resort offers spacious apartments and contemporary villas skirting untouched sandy beaches.

Each has been meticulously finished with imported Italian marble for the flooring and over 90% of the exteriors are made up of floor-to ceiling tempered glazing to soak up the sea views and warm sunshine. With cutting-edge interior design, each property is fully furnished and has an integrated 42” plasma TV, DVD and HiFi as standard whilst everything two bedrooms upwards has a relaxing Jacuzzi tub.

On-site there is a six-star boutique hotel, no less than nine swimming pools, four restaurants, beach bars, a disco bar, gymnasium, luxury health and beauty Spa, tennis courts, football pitches, an open-air theatre and boutiques.

Attractions include the capital Sal Rei with its brightly painted houses and Sahara-like dunes covering the interior of the island are popular with tourists. Boa Vista is also the third most important loggerhead turtle nesting site in the world and these precious creatures can be seen nesting on the beaches at certain times throughout the year.
