Spain is the most popular destination for British people dreaming of moving abroad with France not as popular as it has been, according to new research.
They survey from home moving company AnyVan shows that 13% of respondents picked Spain as their top dream place to live and buy a property.
In second place is New Zealand and Australia, with both countries named by 12% of respondents.
Next was the United States with 10%, followed by Canada with 9%, then Italy with 7% and France back in seventh place with just 6%.
Portugal and Germany came next with both attracting 3% of respondents and finally Dubai with 2%.
But there is a difference among age groups. For example none of the older age group of those aged 55 and over named Dubai while 4% of those aged 18 to 34 did.
New Zealand is top among the older age group at 14% while the United States is top for younger people with 16%, followed by Australia with 15%.
The survey also reveals regional differences. For example, people living on the South coast of England seem keener to move to Italy with 12% in Southampton and 15% in Brighton opting for the nation compared to the UK average of 7%.
For those in London, New Zealand was the top pick with 13% followed by the US and Canada both at 11% and Australia at 10%.
Angus Elphinstone, the firm’s chief executive officer, pointed out that not everyone wants to move with 16% saying they have no desire to move abroad.
