Waterfront build-to-rent development The Green Rooms at MediaCityUK has opened its doors to residents.

After two years of construction, MediacityUK’s very first build-to-rent development, The Green Rooms, has opened its doors to residents.

The development is owned by IP Investment Management with AmroLiving as onsite building operator and Peel L&P as developer.

The development is a residential addition to MediaCityUK and sits along the Manchester Ship Canal, a few minutes from BBC’s headquarters and Coronation Street Studios.

Selina Williams, executive director of IP Investment Manager, the funder, said: “We are excited and honoured to play a part in MediaCityUK’s evolution by helping Peel L&P realise their vision to create a vibrant “live, work, and play” community.

“With The Green Rooms as the very first large scale build-to-rent project within the heart of MediaCityUK, we seek to redefine residential living in the area by offering residents spacious, furnished, pet-friendly, “move-in” ready rental units complete with modern amenities.”

The 19-storey, high-rise residential building comprises 238 units offering amenities for renters to enjoy in the heart of the creative, tech and digital destination.

A feature of The Green Rooms will be the lobby, where the UK’s largest contemporary fresco will be created and installed by artists, Aster Muro.

The piece is being created on site by Aster Muro who are being assisted by four foundation students from Manchester School of Art.

Raj Kotecha, co-founder of AmroLiving, the building operator, said: “We are very excited about the opening of The Green Rooms, our first operational Build-to-Rent community in the UK.

“The interest level and feedback from residents has been very positive.”

Chris Reay, property director at MediaCityUK, said: “The Green Rooms brings another high-quality residential offering to MediaCityUK which is situated in a fantastic location on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal, overlooking the Coronation Street Studios.

“The completion of the Green Rooms closely follows the welcoming of The Lightbox’s first tenants, which is now almost fully occupied.”
