New homes planned on former transport research site in Crowthorne

Vistry Group has submitted plans to build 174 new homes in Crowthorne as part of the wider regeneration of the former Transport Research Laboratory site in the village.

The housebuilder, which incorporates Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships, hopes to deliver the homes at its Buckler’s Park development on a 10-acre parcel of land off Nine Mile Ride.

The development would comprise a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses, including 17 affordable homes available for local people through rent or shared ownership.

The site would form the fourth residential phase of the project to transform the TRL land, which was used for vehicle testing, research and developing innovations – such as the mini-roundabout and cycle lanes – to improve Britain’s roads and transport from the 1960s.

The wider scheme has outline planning permission for up to 1,000 new homes alongside a country park and community facilities.

Vistry submitted detailed plans for Buckler’s Park to Bracknell Forest Council earlier this year and hopes to start construction work on site once plans are approved.
