Martin & Co Uckfield franchise sold to multi-office investor

The Martin & Co lettings and estate agency franchise in Uckfield, East Sussex, has been acquired by David Arnold, who plans to develop a multi-office portfolio across the South East.

Arnold purchased the franchise after consulting with other franchise owners within The Property Franchise Group (TPFG), which operates the Martin & Co brand.

“I already knew other Franchise Owners within The Property Franchise Group and had heard consistently good things about what it’s like to be part of their network,” Arnold said. “They spoke highly of the support, training, systems and ongoing guidance that come with being a Franchise Owner, which made the prospect feel reliable and far less risky than going it alone.”

Expansion strategy

Arnold stated that the Uckfield acquisition forms part of a longer-term growth plan. “This acquisition fits perfectly into my longer-term plans as the foundation for meaningful growth in the sector. My vision is to build a multi-office portfolio under the Martin & Co brand, leveraging TPFG’s support systems and network to identify and integrate complementary opportunities, whether through further franchise resales, independent agency acquisitions or organic growth,” he said.

Prior to entering the property sector, Arnold worked in corporate management within regulated industries, with responsibilities including leadership, compliance, operational efficiency and revenue growth.

Service continuity

The existing branch team in Uckfield will remain in place, with no staff changes planned for lettings, sales or property management operations. The branch covers Uckfield, Lewes, Heathfield and surrounding areas.

Arnold outlined his operational approach, stating that landlords can expect compliance checks, safety certification management, tenant referencing and tenancy agreements. Tenants will have access to compliant properties and dispute resolution processes, while vendors will receive due diligence and valuations.

“The property market is hyper-local. What works in one street in Uckfield can differ just a few miles away. Accurate valuations, effective marketing and proactive advice all depend on genuine local expertise. Combined with continuity of service, that’s what builds trust and delivers stronger outcomes for clients,” Arnold added.

The transaction represents a franchise resale within TPFG’s network, rather than a new franchise opening. No financial details of the acquisition have been disclosed.
