Welsh property professionals form coalition to streamline transactions

A coalition of estate agents, conveyancers and mortgage brokers in Wales has launched an initiative aimed at improving the property transaction process, independent of Westminster reforms.

The group, named Move Wales, comprises independent property professionals working to reduce fall-throughs and transaction delays in the Welsh housing market. Founding members include Cardiff-based Wrights Estate Agency, Harding Evans Solicitors and Carbon Law Partners, with additional firms expected to join before a deadline of 26 June.

The initiative is backed by FinTech Wales, PEXA, the Open Property Data Association (OPDA) and Legal News Wales, and operates on the Openmoove platform.

Response to Westminster reforms

The formation of Move Wales follows the UK Government’s announcement last week of measures designed to accelerate property transactions and reduce fall-throughs. The government stated its reforms would cut buying times by four weeks.

Jack Wright, Director at Wrights Estate Agency, said: “Fall-throughs are painful for everyone involved, but it’s home movers who bear the real cost. This initiative is doing something about it, and we wanted Wrights to be part of that from day one.”

Ross McKenzie, Co-Founder of Openmoove, said: “Wales has the same broken system as everywhere else. The difference is that a group of Welsh professionals have decided not to accept it.”

Industry collaboration

The initiative represents a cross-sector approach to addressing transaction delays and failures in the Welsh property market. Wyn Williams, Partner at Harding Evans Solicitors, said: “We are proud to be part of an initiative that brings all parties in the property sector together. We believe this represents a unique opportunity to improve the experience for everyone involved in a Welsh property transaction.”

The move comes as industry bodies across the UK continue to call for clearer guidance on property regulations, with various sectors seeking to streamline processes.

While property firms remain active in political engagement, Move Wales represents a regional, industry-led response to transaction inefficiencies rather than a legislative approach.

The coalition aims to provide what it describes as “a calmer, clearer, more connected experience” for property buyers and sellers in Wales, though specific metrics for measuring improvement have not been disclosed.
