Five properties in converted or purpose-built towers have been listed for sale across England and Scotland, ranging from £268,000 to £1.1 million, according to estate agent listings.
In Edinburgh, a three-bedroom apartment within Bonaly Tower, a converted A-listed Scots neo-baronial country house in Greater Colinton, has been listed at £1.1 million through Strutt & Parker. The property, known as the Library Suite, features a 29-foot drawing room and sits within four hectares of communal grounds at the foot of the Pentland Hills regional park.
Urban tower developments
In Newcastle, a two-bedroom apartment on the eighth floor of Hadrian’s Tower, the city’s tallest building at 82 metres, is available for £268,000 through Purplebricks. The glass tower includes a 24-hour concierge service, gym, and residents’ lounge, with a restaurant and cocktail bar on the 26th floor.
Two properties in London’s tower blocks have also been listed. A studio apartment in the Grade II-listed art deco Grampians building in Shepherd’s Bush, designed by Maurice Webb and completed in 1937, is priced at £435,000 through The Modern House. In Bethnal Green, a two-bedroom flat on the 11th floor of Offenbach House within the Cranbrook Estate, designed by modernist architect Berthold Lubetkin in 1966, is listed at £350,000.
Regional listings
In Cornwall, a Grade II-listed former Cornish engine house from the late 1800s in Trelyon hamlet has been converted into a three-bedroom property spread over five floors. The property, which operates as a private home, wedding venue and holiday let, is listed at £895,000 through Rohrs and Rowe.
The listings come as house price to earnings ratios have fallen to their lowest levels since 2015, potentially affecting affordability calculations for buyers. Market conditions have also been influenced by slower house price growth in recent months.
The properties represent a range of architectural periods and styles, from 19th-century industrial conversions to mid-20th-century modernist developments and 1930s art deco design.
