Colchester-based estate and lettings agent Boydens has secured its first block management clients in London, marking a geographical expansion for the firm’s property management division.
The company now manages more than 3,000 units across Essex and Suffolk from its Colchester head office, where a nine-strong block management team is based.
Management portfolio
The firm’s portfolio includes traditional leasehold properties, converted historic buildings, and purpose-built blocks ranging from six to 120 units. The team also manages communal areas on estates with predominantly freehold properties, as well as private estates containing houses and apartments.
Boydens’ existing client base spans Colchester, Chelmsford, Felixstowe, Ipswich and Sudbury. The firm manages converted buildings including former mills, hotels, schools, malt houses and a brewery. The expansion into London comes as high-value property activity continues to grow outside London and the South East, though the capital remains a key market for property services.
Staff appointment
As part of the expansion, Euan Shepherd has been promoted to Assistant Manager, taking responsibility for day-to-day operations of the service. Shepherd has been with the company for four years and has received several promotions during his tenure.
Philip Boyden, managing director of Boydens, said: “Euan’s promotion is recognition of the hard work and dedication he has brought to the team since he joined us four years ago.”
Shepherd said: “I’m delighted to take on greater responsibility for the team. We are very busy with several new clients including our first in London, a development close to St Paul’s Cathedral. Developers, landlords, freeholders and Right to Manage companies like the fact that we can provide them with a full block management service.”
The move reflects ongoing demand for block management services in the leasehold sector, particularly as homebuyers continue to search for properties in both regional markets and the capital. Shepherd added that the firm has additional opportunities in development but would prioritise service to existing clients while onboarding new ones.
