Rare chance to buy through shared ownership in Westminster

Buyers will have the rare opportunity to get on the property ladder in Westminster through shared ownership, as Notting Hill Genesis is launching a collection of apartments at its new development Castle & Victoria.

The homes will initially be available to those living and working in the City of Westminster, with prices starting from £161,250 for a 25% share of a one-bedroom apartment.

The development offers 28 apartments across four beautifully restored Victorian buildings, which were initially built in the 1800s and served as accommodation for workers at the nearby Stag Brewery.

Notting Hill Genesis will be retaining the facades, and transforming the buildings internally to create homes for the modern buyer, with contemporary features and high quality finishes such as brushed gold kitchen taps, handleless cabinets and spacious fitted bedroom wardrobes.

Philip Wellard-Hughes, head of sales at Notting Hill Genesis, said: “This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity for buyers to own a home in one of the most desirable areas of London through a more affordable route.

“We expect these homes to sell out quickly, so we’d advise any potential buyers, or anybody looking for guidance on Shared Ownership, to come along to our event on 16 June and find out more.”

To support any buyers that want to learn more about shared ownership, Notting Hill Genesis will be hosting a free event on 16 June in Westminster, with the chance for an peek into the development and guidance from a financial adviser on mortgages and the process of buying a home.

Through shared ownership, buyers part own and part rent their home by purchasing a percentage share of the property, and paying rent on the remainder.

This share can then be increased over time, allowing buyers to own a property in one of the capital’s most desirable and historic districts for a fraction of the price they would be required to pay if they were to purchase outright.

The development is in Zone 1, with St. James’s Park London Underground station just a four minute walk away, and Victoria Station reachable in eight minutes.

Its central location also brings the huge range of amenities and attractions that come with living in Westminster.

On foot, Hyde Park can be reached in 22 minutes, with plenty of football pitches, tennis courts, and the opportunity to boat on the Serpentine, while the area is flush with world-class bars, restaurants, galleries and museums.
