Rightmove is hosting a webinar on 23 July focused on strategies to reduce property transaction fall-throughs, featuring television presenter Phil Spencer and John Reynolds, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of transaction technology platform Coadjute.
The session will examine causes of delays and failed transactions in the home-moving process, alongside discussions on how improved collaboration and information sharing could lead to faster property transactions.
Communication over speed
According to research conducted by the property portal, communication quality appears to outweigh transaction speed in customer satisfaction. The study found that 80% of movers would recommend an agent whose sale took longer than anticipated but maintained regular communication throughout the process, compared to just 3% who would recommend an agent whose sale completed quickly but provided limited updates.
The findings suggest that whilst many factors causing delays remain outside agents’ control, maintaining customer confidence through consistent communication plays a significant role in the transaction process. This comes at a time when estate agents navigate ongoing challenges in the property market.
Agent responsibilities
Jason Charles, Head of Education at Rightmove, stated: “While many of the causes of delays and fall-throughs sit outside an agent’s direct control, they play a critical role in keeping customers informed, maintaining confidence and helping transactions progress.”
The webinar will present consumer insights and practical approaches for agents to improve transaction outcomes, with participants able to submit questions in advance via the Rightmove Hub. The session forms part of broader industry efforts to address transaction efficiency, as property firms continue to refine operational processes.
Fall-throughs remain a persistent issue in the UK property market, affecting both agents’ commission income and buyers’ and sellers’ moving plans. The webinar aims to provide agents with strategies to navigate these challenges whilst managing customer expectations during the transaction process.
