Government issues damp and mould guide

The government has released a guide designed for tenants suffering from damp and mould issues in their homes.

Tenants are notified of how they can claim redress if landlords or agents fail to fix issues. Namely they can contact a local authority’s health team, go to the housing ombudsman, or even challenge their landlord or agent in court.

The guide tells renters about the upcoming Renters’ Rights Bill, including how it will introduce a ‘decent home standard’, make it so private landlords and agents have to fix problems faster via ‘Awaab’s Law’, and introduce a private landlords ombudsman.

The guide can be accessed here.
