65 new homes being built between Nottingham and Leicester

Dandara has completed the purchase of a parcel of land in the East Midlands village of Wymeswold, strategically positioned midway between the thriving cities of Nottingham and Leicester, and close to the university town of Loughborough.

Homes at the new development, which already has outline planning permission in place, will be designed to appeal particularly to families and downsizers, offering a rare opportunity to buy a high-specification new build home in an appealing village location.

The new properties will be close to beautiful countryside and within walking distance of the popular Wymeswold Primary School, rated as Good by Ofsted. Superbly located for commuters, Wymeswold has two railway stations within a 10-minute drive, Loughborough and Barrow-upon-Soar, both of which are on the Midland Main Line providing speedy links to London, Nottingham and Sheffield.

The village itself is well-equipped, with a wide range of amenities including a pharmacy, greengrocer, convenience store, hairdresser, two pubs, four churches and a highly regarded restaurant, Hammer & Pincers, run by chefs who previously worked at The Savoy. There are plenty of entertainment options, with a cricket club, football pitch and BMX track, a running club, a popular choir and Scouts and Guides groups for all ages.

Simon Pendlebury, Sales and Marketing Director at Dandara commented: “At Dandara we not only create great houses, but we want to site them in great places, where people will want to live. Wymeswold has excellent facilities, including shops, pubs and a good village school, and its location, midway between major cities, means it is well-situated for employment opportunities. The development, in a tranquil location on the edge of the village, is in easy walking distance from the village primary school and has a play area on site, making it especially attractive to families with young children.

“The development itself is close to open countryside, with scenic views and beautiful walks, and we have around 1.8 hectares of open green space, including a play area, trees and a retained and improved wildlife pond to complement the rural location.”

The development at Wymeswold will comprise a range of property types, including two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses and bungalows for market sale, along with 26 affordable homes for rent and shared ownership. The show home, which is expected to be ready for viewings in March next year, will be the five-bedroom Blenheim, which includes a double garage that will be used as the marketing suite.

As part of the planning consent, the S106 contributions of £200,000 will be spent by the Local Authority on improvements to schools, roads, outdoor sport, libraries, and allotments in the village.
