Some 80 new homes will be built in the village of Cotford St Luke, after the developer Lovell was granted planning permission by Somerset Council.
Situated off Dene Road just five miles from the centre of Taunton, the £25 million, mixed tenure development will consist of two, three and four-bedroom homes, including 60 properties available via open market sale and 20 affordable homes.
Construction work is due to commence on the site in late-summer 2025 and complete mid-2027.
James Duffett, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “We are incredibly proud to have received unanimous approval on our Cotford St Luke development, just 16 weeks after our reserved matters planning application was submitted.
“This development will have sustainability and the environment at its heart, as the second gas-free community in our portfolio. We took great care when designing this project to ensure biodiversity will be improved and that our homes will be energy efficient and delivered to a high standard.
“These homes will be in a desirable, rural location with stunning countryside views, and provide local people with much needed new housing. We are now looking forward to commencing work and introducing ourselves to the Cotford St Luke community.”
All 80 homes will have air source heat pumps. The scheme will also deliver a minimum of 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), as alongside new homes, the development will feature public open space, allotments, play areas, foot paths and cycleways for existing and future residents to utilise.
