Affordable apartments launched in the best place to live in Surrey by SO Resi

Farnham, named by real estate agency Garrington as the best place to live in Surrey 2022,and one of the best places to live in the UK by The Times, has seen average property prices skyrocket to £734,681 thanks to high demand from buyers. In response, housing association SO Resi’s launch of 72 one- and two-bedroom shared ownership apartments starting from £285,000 seek to provide local buyers access to property in the bustling heart of the town centre without compromise.

Forming part of Crest Nicholson’s Brightwells Yard regeneration scheme, the apartments will be available through shared ownership, meaning that buyers are able to purchase a minimum share of 25%, with just a five per cent deposit required. Buyers will then have the option to gradually increase their share in the future through a process known as staircasing.

Kush Rawal, Director of Residential Investment at SO Resi, comments: “This year Farnham has been named as one of the UK’s top 10 property hotspots, with prices increasing by 22% over the past year due to high demand for homes in the town. These apartments are an exciting addition to the local property market, with the new homes focusing on accessibility to property for those who live or work in the surrounding area, enabling local people to buy their first home with a low deposit.

“Our new homes also sit within an hour’s commute to London Waterloo which we are seeing as a driving factor for buyers looking to maintain hybrid working patterns but not having the budget for extortionate London prices. SO Resi Farnham provides an opportunity for buyers to get their foot onto the property ladder without sacrificing key elements of their homebuying checklist such as access to amenities, commutability, and high-specification interiors.”

SO Resi Farnham has been designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating a natural living wall and roof, which will help to provide clean air alongside providing an ecosystem for a variety of insects and birds. Internally, the apartments have been designed to maximise natural light, with large windows and balconies to extend living space.

Kush Rawal adds: “Delivering sustainable homes is one of our key values, and we are pleased that SO Resi Farnham will incorporate eco-friendly features throughout the development. These also ensure our properties are cheaper to run than older equivalents, benefitting from the latest construction methods and technology available to help keep costs as low as possible for our residents.”

Sitting in the centre of Farnham, the development will provide the new residents with quick and easy access to the recently launched Brightwells Yard, a 25-unit shopping centre, a six-screen cinema complex, a selection of eateries, and public open space. The properties are also within catchment for five primary schools and two secondary schools rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
