Anwyl Homes Lancashire has submitted a reserved matters planning application to Wyre Borough Council for a residential development in Barton near Preston.
The housebuilder has exchanged contracts on a 9.3 acre parcel of land that fronts onto Garstang Road, the main A6 road that connects Preston and Lancaster, and is proposing to build 72 high quality new build homes.
John Grime, managing director at Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: “We have identified a great site in Barton and are proposing to develop it with a range of high quality new build family homes plus public open space.
“With open countryside and great amenities on the doorstep, the site is in a super location. It will have particular appear for growing families who will be attracted by the enviable array of good or outstanding schools and higher education opportunities that are within just a few miles.
“Also, with the new Broughton bypass just minutes away, commuters have easy access to the nearby city of Preston, old market town of Garstang and the wider North West via the M55 and M6.”
The development will be called Lawrence Gardens and become home to 50 individually designed four bedroom detached family homes, along with 22 ‘affordable’ two and three bedroom mews homes which will be made available for rent and shared ownership.
The site will include an element of retail use for a convenience store, as well as landscaped public open green space.
As part of its application, Anwyl will contribute more than £750,000 towards primary and secondary education, highways improvements, local footpath improvements and travel plan provision.
New junction works to improve safety and the speed of traffic approaching along Garstang Road will also be funded.
