Brand-New Homes Set for Former School Site In Castle Vale

Lovell Partnerships has signed a development agreement with the Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust – Birmingham City Council’s housebuilding arm – to begin work on a brand-new, mixed tenure housing development on Farnborough Road, to be named The Point.

The new range of homes are being built on the site of the former Greenwood Academy, which has remained empty since the school relocated to the other side of Farnborough Road several years ago.

When complete, the 3.28-hectare housing development will create 123 new two, three and four-bed homes. 59 of these homes will be for open market sale through Lovell Partnerships, 40 will be rental properties for Birmingham City Council, and the remaining 24 will be rental properties for The Pioneer Group managed under its Castle Vale Community Housing social housing brand.

Tenants in The Pioneer Group properties will benefit from affordable rents, with rates set at 20% below current market rent levels.

The Pioneer Group’s homes will include ten 1-bedroom apartments, eight 2-bedroom houses and six 3-bedroom houses. These properties will be allocated to Castle Vale Community Housing (CVCH) applicants from its waiting list. Further information on the CVCH allocation scheme and a link to the application form can be found on their website: www.cvch.org.uk/your-cvch/applying-for-a-home

Interested parties are advised to also apply to the Birmingham City Council scheme as after the initial lettings, future vacancies will be subject to 50% nomination rights by the Council.

Simon Wilson, CEO Pioneer Group said: “This exciting new development at Farnborough Road supports our strategic aim to close the gap in the shortage of high quality and affordable housing in a high-demand area. This project swiftly follows on from the completion of 83 homes at Manor House, Station Road, Stechford and start of construction of 14 new apartments on Slade Road in Stockland Green.
