David Wilson Homes launches expansive Ersham Park development in Hailsham

David Wilson Homes has launched its long-awaited new development in Hailsham, East Sussex. Offering an expansive collection of new homes alongside vast green spaces and biodiversity areas, Ersham Park will cater to a wide range of buyers from first time buyers, families and downsizers alike. The first residents are expected to move in early next year.

The first phase will consist of 128 two, three and four-bedroom homes, of which 38 will be affordable. All homes have been constructed with energy efficiency in mind, with measures in place such as energy efficient boilers and high levels of insulation, that ensure a new Barratt home is up to 57% cheaper to run than the same sized older home with modern day improvements. What’s more, 100% of the homes in the first phase will benefit from either active or passive electric vehicle charging points (EVCPs), encouraging more sustainable transport methods.

Biodiversity is encouraged to thrive at Ersham Park, with retained trees and hedgerows, ponds, wildflower areas and bee-friendly planting throughout. Innovations in construction also provide 128 swift bricks and 16 bat boxes in the walls of the homes, allowing birds and bats to nest safely.

A new cycleway will be provided through the site, linking Ersham Road to the Cuckoo Trail. Several new play areas and green open spaces will also be created for the residents and local community to enjoy, including the provision of a replacement village green land.

Kimberley Benson, Sales and Marketing Director at David Wilson Southern Counties, comments: “Ersham Park offers an opportunity for local communities and wildlife to thrive, with great care taken to protect and enhance existing habitats from the ground up to the roofs of our houses. Not only is the development ripe with green spaces, but the popular Cuckoo Trail sits just outside of Ersham Park, whilst the South Downs are also nearby.

“Ersham Park will deliver much-needed new homes to the area to suit a diverse range of buyers, whatever their stage on the property ladder. In particular we anticipate high demand from local buyers, as there is currently a very limited new homes market in the local area.”

Hailsham and the surrounding area will directly benefit from more than £235,415 in the form of S106 contributions, with the majority of this directed towards the extension and enhancement of bus services in the south of Hailsham. The contribution from Ersham Park will also be used to extend the 30mph speed limit on Ersham Road and Station Road, helping to keep both existing and new communities safe.

Ersham Park is situated to the south of Hailsham, just one mile from the town centre. Residents will be within walking distance of a number of Ofsted Good schools, including Burfield Academy, Whitehouse Academy and Hailsham Community College. The town centre is also host to a variety of shops, pubs and cafes.

Residents at Ersham Park will be well connected, with the A22 and A27 nearby, and  Polegate Train Station less than three miles away. From here, London Victoria can be reached in 1 hour 22 minutes, whilst coastal destinations such as Eastbourne and Brighton are eight minutes and thirty minutes respectively.

Currently available at Ersham Park is a collection of two, three and four-bedroom houses. Prices start from £424,995 for a detached three-bedroom home.
