Beckhams predicted to look to Lake Como for property when David moves to AC Milan

Lake Como, where he would be a neighbour to George Clooney, Richard Branson and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, is a favourite location and is regarded as one of the most fashionable and chic regions in the country.

Milan is already known as one of the fashion capitals of the world and can rival Los Angeles in terms of designer shops and top restaurants. But it is nearby Lake Como where the rich and famous choose to live.

The celebrity couple have looked at the region before. 'In 2003 the Beckhams were looking for a villa on Lake Como and focused on the area around Noltrasio, Lagolio, where George Clooney has his villa,' said Linda Travella of Casa Travella, experts in marketing quality Italian homes to the British property investors.

Although she points out that there are also some very exclusive penthouses in Milan itself which may prove attractive to the couple who like to keep their children out of the public eye as much as possible.

In fact Silvio Berlusconi is keen to welcome the couple and their family. He has even suggested that Victoria should make a television programme about moving to Italy.

According to Travella, Milan and the Lake Como area offers and abundance of choice especially for the wealthy and those who appreciates quality homes in awe-inspiring locations.

'This part of Italy is stylish, sophisticated and very chic. It offers skiing, water sports, spectacular views and designer stores, glamorous hotels, and top quality restaurants, in Milan or the elegant city of Como. Juxtapose this with its history and culture and you have a utopia,' she said.

The kind of property they might look at includes a 600 square feet period villa with ancient murals and oil paintings, together with a 100 square metre house suitable for guests or staff, all set in an acre of garden in a very private location with a price in excess of €4 million.

If they are on a budget then there is a newly restored town house with three bedrooms and three bathrooms for €640.000 within five minutes walk of George Clooney's residence, Villa Oleandra.
