Plans go ahead for sought after lakeside and mountain location in the French Alps

The apartments being built by leading MGM French Properties will have a range of energy saving features and are in the oldest part of the picturesque town near where archaeologist recently found a waterfront settlement dating back to 3,100 BC.

But these homes will be very much 21st century with south facing floor to ceiling windows that have been designed to maximise natural light and will comply with the French standards for low energy consumption.

To achieve the eco-friendly status a number of low energy options have been incorporated into the design including lights activated by movement, low energy light bulbs in communal areas, geothermal heat pumps, low cost under floor hearings and water regulators.

Richard Deans, who heads MGM’s London based UK sales office, said that the new apartments also have easy access to local shops as well as the heart of the old town of Annecy with its mediaeval cobbled streets and canals.

Annecy is less than an hour from Geneva airport and also close to a number of ski-ing resorts that are popular in summer as well as winter. La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand are around 30 minutes away.

In summer Lake Annecy is popular for sailing, water sports and fishing and has been tested as one of the cleanest lakes in Europe. It is also a university town which is twinned with Cheltenham in Gloucestershire in the UK and hosts festivals, conferences, exhibitions and theatrical performances throughout the year.

The apartments in Le Clos Elisee range from one bedroom apartments with a floor area of 57 square meters priced at €375,000 to a 95 square meter three bedroom penthouse at €600,000.
