Foxtons employees have been accused of sexist and inappropriate behaviour following an investigation from Bloomberg.
One female employee, who was 21 at the time, said a manager and co-workers would grope her and discuss her weight in work WhatsApp chats.
Bloomberg also alleged that young members of staff were given fewer sales leads if they complained about their treatment, eventually leading to them signing fewer deals and being struck off for ‘poor performance’.
Bloomberg spoke to 20+ former and current Foxtons employees over the course of six months, while employees were also accused of racism, anti-semitism, bullying and drink-driving.
The allegations took place between 2021 and late 2024.
Foxtons responded in a statement: “We take allegations of harassment and misconduct extremely seriously and thoroughly investigate them.
“We urge all of our employees to use our confidential whistleblowing process so that allegations of wrongdoing can be investigated and required action taken.
“We conduct mandatory annual training for all 1,400 employees, including the board, on sexual harassment, respectful workplace behaviour and managing personal relationships at work, alongside clear and tested escalation processes, confidential whistleblowing systems and feedback surveys.
“We are proud of our workforce which reflects London’s vibrant and diverse population, and we are focused on fostering an environment where our people feel able to speak up.”
There was also said to be a strong drinking culture at the firm, though Foxtons clarified that it has removed alcohol from Friday meetings since July 2023.
