Get Living expands former Olympic Athletes’ Village with 524 new homes

Get Living, the UK’s leading build-to-rent operator of large-scale residential neighbourhoods, has launched 524 brand-new homes for rent at Portlands Place, East Village, the former Olympic Athletes’ village.

Across two towers reaching 26 and 31 storeys along with two ten-storey pavilions connected by a tenth floor skybridge, Portlands Place comprises studio, one, two, three and four-bedroom homes. The apartments will be available in three brand tiers to suit different tastes and budgets.

Designed by Hawkins\Brown, Portlands Place residents will have access to shared facilities including a dramatic tenth floor skybridge with a gym, bar, “come-dine-with-me” kitchen and workspace which opens out to the spectacular roof gardens with views over the Queen Elizabeth Park and East Village.

A decade on from London 2012 and the genesis of this neighbourhood as the former athletes’ village, Get Living’s portfolio now includes over 1,400 build-to-rent homes at East Village. The area has now been transformed into a destination neighbourhood, with carefully curated social infrastructure and more than 25 independent shops, bars and restaurants, all part of the post-Olympic legacy.

To enable sustainable lifestyles, Portlands Place includes key features such as electric car charge points, secure cycle storage and a cycle maintenance area, as the development is surrounded by a network of walking and cycling pathways within East Village and the wider Stratford area. Portlands Place also overlooks The Wetlands area of East Village which is a biodiverse multihabitat from which water is recycled for re-use in Chobham Academy School and landscape irrigation.

Portlands Place was built using Mace’s specialised MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) system. It was possible to reach a momentum of installing a floor per week, which reduced vehicular movement by 40%.
