Goodlord unveils offering to ‘prepare for Renters’ Rights Bill’

Goodlord has launched a platform and signed partnerships – with the remit of helping landlords prepare for the Renters’ Rights Bill.

‘The Aspen Edition’ of its platform is providing product releases around rent reviews, Rent Protection Insurance, ID Verification, and inventory management.

Meanwhile Goodlord is integrating with Street.co.uk, a customer relationship management system used by estate and letting agents.

William Reeve, its chief executive, said: “In a market that’s constantly moving, against a backdrop of regulations that are forever changing, services for landlords and agents can’t rest on their laurels.

“That’s why we’re investing in and releasing such a wide range of updates, brokering new partnerships, and bolstering our team ahead of the Renters’ Rights Bill passing into law.

“We want to ensure agents and their landlords are prepared in advance, remain compliant throughout, and aren’t burdened with extra admin either now or in the long-term.”

The Aspen Edition will include:

Rent review tools – To help agents cope with the Renters’ Rights Bill’s imminent abolition of fixed-term tenancies and its scrapping of Section 21, the platform will ensure landlords and agents can be guided through the ‘Section 13’ process compliantly. This will be the primary way for a landlord to amend rents once the Bill passes. Goodlord will ensure the right documents are served to tenants around rent changes and provide landlords and agents with a full audit trail to aid any legal proceedings.

Rent Protection Insurance – Rent protection will be upgraded with a new claims dashboard, which provides users with greater insights and transparency over each claim. With the scrapping of Section 21, all eviction proceedings will need to go through courts – raising the likelihood of the landlords and agents needing to process claims.

IDVT – An ID Upgrade package will enable agents to perform secure, remote Right to Rent checks in the UK. This protects letting agents and landlords from document forgery and fraud, ensuring compliance.

Inventory management – Customers will be able to see and collate all tenant responses and communication around inventories in one place, making it easier for agents and landlords to handle the inventory process.
