Newham-based housing company Populo Living has appointed the contractor Higgins to build 77 new homes let at London Affordable Rent at its site at Grange Road, Plaistow.
The £18m project comprises the re-development of previously derelict and vacant land to create two contemporary mansion blocks of five and six storeys. The development will include a landscaped communal garden, cycle storage and open views across the Greenway.
Steve Leakey, managing director for Higgins, said: “With the critical need for affordable housing in Newham we are pleased to be awarded this contract by Populo Living to build these high quality homes.

The homes back on to the Greenway, the 4.3 mile long raised footpath and off-road cycle route, providing links from Royal Docks Road in Beckton through to Stratford and the Olympic Park.
