How using timber windows and doors could reduce your energy costs during cost-of-living crisis

Investing in your home and switching to timber windows and doors could save you hundreds of pounds per year on your energy bills and hugely increase your sustainability efforts, according to Bereco.

Around 10% of your home’s heat is lost through windows and doors – reducing this heat loss means you can reduce the level at which your thermostat is set, which is better for both your pocket and the environment.

The leading timber window and door specialist, based in South Yorkshire, is advising that making the switch could lower your energy consumption, cutting down on your annual spend and making your home more eco-friendly.

Nicola Harrison, managing director at Bereco, said: “Energy bills are at an all-time high, and unfortunately there’s no sign of then coming down any time soon. Many homeowners are now looking to make long term investments in their properties to reduce their energy use.

“Wood is a natural insulator, as it absorbs and retains heat, so opting for timber windows and doors will help keep your home warmer for longer, helping to cut down your energy usage – something which has many long-term benefits!

“Our energy saving window and door designs and high-performance glazing mean that our double-glazed windows have Uw-values from 1.2, a value only usually seen in triple glazing! This means you can keep your window profiling the same but with much more energy-efficient results, saving the average three-bedroom home the equivalent of £530 on heating bills each year.

“On top of the energy savings, timber windows have the lowest lifetime cost of any window material. They have a life expectancy of up to 60 years, 2-3 times that of the equivalent uPVC window. So, when it comes to a long-term investment

in both your property and the planet, nothing beats timber windows and doors.”
