Investment in Brompton drawing in buyers to refurbished homes

Buyers are flocking to the Annington’s Sovereign Gate development in Brompton, where a quarter of the homes have already sold following its launch in November 2022. The development offers a collection of two, three and four-bedroom refurbished properties, with prices starting from £300,000 for a three-bedroom home.

Brompton is on the doorstep of Gillingham, which is tipped for a multi-million pound regeneration, house prices remain some of the most affordable along the Kentish coast, where towns such as Dartford command an average house price of £379,689.[1] It comes as no surprise that the former Ministry of Defence homes at Sovereign Gate have proven popular with first time buyers and young professionals, thanks to their attractive residential setting, offering quick commuter links and easy access to coast and country. The first residents are expected to move into their new homes in March.

In a climate conscious market, sustainability is at the heart of Annington’s housing delivery. Each home at Sovereign Gate has been upgraded to EPC ‘C’ rating, thanks to extensive refurbishment works which have seen the instalment of newly fitted kitchens, modern bathrooms, floor coverings as well as new windows and doors.

Stewart Huck, Senior Branch Manager at Your Move, comments: “Demand has been very high at Sovereign Gate, and we are already building a waiting list of eager home movers waiting the next release of apartments. There’s a real mix of demand from local residents and those moving away from the likes of Croydon, Dartford and Maidstone for more affordable house prices and a better way of life. Commuter links are great, and as it’s already such a well-established residential area, people can really get a feel for the lifestyle here.”

The homes are conveniently located with access to plenty of local amenities, including dockside shops, restaurants, a cinema and a shopping arena. The creation of The Greenway route will offer a 1.4km route for walkers and cyclists, connecting the waterfront and town centre. Further improvements include play areas, new planting and outdoor space for cafes and shops.

Louise Saunders, Sales and Marketing Manager at Annington, adds: “Brompton is one of the Medway’s best kept secrets, and the influx of new funding for the town means that there has never been a more attractive time to buy. Sovereign Gate has proven popular with buyers incoming from across Kent and London – and for those that missed our launch, we have further new releases lined up, including two, three and four-bedroom homes, alongside a brand new release of two-bedroom apartments due to be launched shortly. I’d urge anyone interested to book a viewing.”
