Land acquired and plans submitted for new housing development in Tiverton
Bellway has submitted plans to build 41 new homes in Tiverton after acquiring the land earmarked for the development.
The housebuilder has purchased a three-acre site to the south of Lea Road which has outline planning permission granted by Mid Devon District Council in July 2019.
If Bellway’s reserved matters application is approved, construction work could begin on the first homes in spring 2023.
The proposed development includes a mix of one, two and three-bedroom properties, featuring a range of terraced, detached, and semi-detached houses and apartments. All 41 homes will be available for private sale.
Sam Sowden, Land Director for Bellway South West, said: “If approved, our proposals will deliver a range of much-needed new homes in Tiverton built by a five-star rated housebuilder. The mix of properties has been designed to cater for buyers with different needs and budgets, from one-bedroom apartments for those seeking to get on the property ladder to three-bedroom detached houses for larger families looking to put down roots in the area.
“The homes will be within walking and cycling distance of a range of local amenities, conveniently situated in a sought-after semi-rural location around a mile from the town centre. A new vehicle access to the site will be provided by a newly constructed junction off Lea Road, helping to minimise the impact on existing transport infrastructure in the town.
“These plans support our ongoing growth strategy in the South West, following recent land acquisitions in Crediton, Willand, and Trowbridge which are in line to deliver over 550 new homes. This activity demonstrates our confidence in the business and the wider housing market in the region.”
Earlier this year, Bellway was awarded five-star builder status by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for a sixth consecutive year. The rating is achieved when 90 per cent of customers surveyed say they would recommend a housebuilder to a friend or family member.
