Land Acquired for 155 Homes in Bishop’s Stortford

Bellway has purchased a second parcel of land at the new St James’ Park neighbourhood in Bishop’s Stortford.

The land deal now sees the housebuilder – which has already acquired a 12.7-acre site at St James’ Park for the construction of 219 homes – set to deliver a second phase of 155 homes within the scheme.

Bellway will now be contributing 374 of the 750 homes planned at St James’ Park, making it a key contributor of housing to the 131-acre wider scheme.

The wider development at St James’ Park will include a new primary school, shops, a care home and employment space, as well as providing a new home for The Bishop’s Stortford High School.

Work on Bellway’s first phase of homes, to be known as Bellway at St James’ Park, is set to commence early next year, and will include 131 homes for private sale, as well as 88 affordable properties for local residents, with a mix of houses and apartments.

Ali Maruf, managing director of Bellway North London, said: “Having purchased a second parcel of land at St James’ Park, we are now delivering a significant amount of housing within this consortium, highlighting our commitment to providing much-needed homes in Bishop’s Stortford.”
