The Caribbean used to be a location that was prime for only the most luxury of holiday getaways. Royalty spent their time there. But with new packages available, and more flights into and out of the countries, it has become increasingly easy for tourists to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
Barbados and Antigua have become locations filled with hotel complexes. The demand for second homes here has grown and continues to demand attention. More so, many of the areas property prices are still low, which signals an opportunity for everyone to become part of the Caribbean lifestyle.
In some areas, property prices have risen widely, especially on the largest and most developed of locations. On Barbados, for example, it will cost about £350,000 for a small one bedroom apartment here. Still, people love the atmosphere and intrigue so much so that the number of tourists makes many rental opportunities ideal.
With economic pressures, many tourism based industries in this region have been concerned. Yet in new information released on Wednesday, top cruise executives are showing no signs of worry when it comes to cruises.
As reported by the International Herald Tribune, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises and Azama Cruises, Dan Hanrahan had this to say. "There's this belief amongst people that they deserve their vacations. The fact that cruising provides such value is what's helped the cruise industry weather this storm so far."
Most cruise executives do not expect any sort of drop in tourism numbers this year
