In a recent study done by the Homebuyer and Property Investor Show showed that the top two locations for Brits to purchase a second home were Cyprus and Panama. The factors that contributed to this placement included good tax situations, the ease of becoming a resident here and the health care. Property costs also came in as important considerations.
Property prices in Panama are some of the most affordable. In addition, a plan called the Pensionado Scheme allows investors here discounts when they are pensioners.
Panama also features benefits to the infrastructure including a high end water system. It also sports a large middle class population which favours low costs. In terms of culture, the best of Latin America is found here, but there is a mix of international races represented including Asian and Europeans. It also has become an attractive option for property buyers in the US who no longer wish to invest in US property.
In second home sales, Panama is an option that many had not thought about. Other Central America countries that have become emerging property markets include Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
