US investors look to invest in Latin America

In tourism reports, which outline the best locations for tourists to visit around the globe, several Latin American countries made the list. Brazil, which used to be a favourite, fell to number 49 on the list, which many did not expect. Costa Rica was still the top rated Latin American country to be visited. Others include Chile at number 51, Mexico at number 55 and Argentina at number 58.

In other news, more and more US investors are looking for opportunities outside of the country's housing market troubles and credit scare and are turning to Latin America for opportunities.

According to recent reports, investing in countries like Costa Rica allows for an ideal return on investment because costs are low, the location is ideal for tourism and it offers excellent resources to second home buyers. In Latin American property, Costa Rica is the largest, most sought after property market.

Still, professionals warn about investing in many of these areas. Purchasing property that has not been completely built or that has not been started could dampen the return or cause a large scale loss in some situations.

Even with that, many investors from the US and the UK are seeking opportunities away from the housing scares and economic concerns at home.
