Launch for new homes at Bishop’s Stortford development

Bellway has welcomed the first visitors to its development at St James’ Park in Bishop’s Stortford, where a new extension to the town is being created.

A launch event held in the on-site sales and marketing suite on Saturday 28 May provided the first opportunity for people to purchase one of the Bellway homes currently under construction at the site, with plans for the first residents to move into their homes from as soon as February 2023.

Matthew Saw, Sales Manager for Bellway North London, said: “We were looking forward to unveiling our sales centre and showing customers how this new community at St James’ Park will come together, and we were really pleased to see so many people on our opening day in May.

“At St James’ Park we will build one and two-bedroom apartments, and two, three and four-bedroom houses. This means we can help to meet the needs of a wide range of buyers of all different ages across Bishop’s Stortford.

“The wider development will eventually include primary and secondary schools, sport and leisure facilities, shops and land earmarked for employment opportunities, providing the amenities to support this new area of the town.”

St James’ Park is a consortium development in Bishop’s Stortford, with Bellway North London’s development accessed off St James’ Way, to the south of the town. The Bellway Group will ultimately build 498 of the 750 homes at the scheme, divided into three phases; the first including 219 homes, a second phase of 155 properties, and a third of 124 homes.

As part of phase one, Bellway will build 124 private homes, while 95 homes will be allocated for affordable housing. The affordable homes will be made available to local people through affordable rent or shared ownership. Bellway plan to open a showhome at St James’ Park in the winter.

Matthew said: “St James’ Park extends our commitment to building new homes in Bishop’s Stortford, supporting infrastructure and creating jobs. Bellway is already delivering 323 apartments at Goodsyard next to Bishop’s Stortford Station.

“Now we have launched the site, and sold our first plots to customers who reserved at the opening event in May, our focus remains on delivering the first phase of new homes at St James’ Park and then opening our showhome at the development during the winter.”

The first selection of homes released by Bellway at St James’ Park include a range of three and four-bedroom homes, currently priced from £455,000.
