Linden Homes gets green light to build 150 new homes in Quedgeley

Linden Homes, part of the Vistry Group, has been given the go ahead to build a further 150 new homes at a location on the former RAF Quedgeley airbase.

The housebuilder is to deliver the properties on a 14-acre site to the north of Rudloe Drive in Quedgeley. The development will feature 120 new homes for private sale and 30 affordable properties, with detailed plans approved by Gloucester City Council’s planning committee on Tuesday 1 November 2022.

The development will be opposite the Green Oaks location where Linden Homes is currently building 80 new homes under its Linden Homes brand. Vistry Group, which was formed in 2020, incorporates Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships.

Supriya Ray, regional managing director of Vistry Cotswolds region, said: “We have worked closely with Gloucester City Council to finalise a scheme which will help meet the needs of the area by offering a wide range of different-sized properties.

“The development will not only provide 120 much-needed new homes for the private market but will also deliver 30 affordable homes to allow local people, who cannot afford to buy their own homes, to secure a property near to their support network of family and friends, through low-cost rent or shared ownership. Now that we have been given permission to go ahead, we will aim to start construction on site as soon as possible.”

The development will consist of a range of one to four-bedroom new homes. The site will feature two acres of public open space which will include a youth football pitch with sheltered dugouts and a children’s play area. Mature trees will be retained across the site where possible, complemented by the planting of 81 new trees.

The new homes being built at both Linden Homes developments will form part of the wider regeneration of the old RAF Quedgeley site, known as Kingsway Village, which began in 2006.

Supriya said: “This further development at Quedgeley clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment to investing in large projects which will bring new housing and additional benefits to the area. As a socially responsible housebuilder, our philosophy is to not just deliver new houses but to connect with, and play a part in, the local community.

“Through our building programme at Green Oaks, we already have an established relationship with Quedgeley, as we’ve donated £250 to the Quedgeley and Hardwicke Cricket Club to allow them to buy new hardball gear for the under-11 girls’ team, and sponsored Quedgeley Wanderers Football Club with a donation of £500.

“This new development to the north of Rudloe Drive will help improve the facilities in the village by providing a football pitch which will further enhance the provision of grassroots sport for local residents.

“We see this new development as a natural extension to our existing development which will allow us to offer more people the opportunity to live in this fabulous location.”

There’s currently a choice of three and four-bedroom Linden Homes properties available to reserve at Green Oaks, with prices starting at £325,000 and £390,000 respectively.
