More than Half of Homes Built at Shrewsbury Sites

Construction across two Bellway developments in Shrewsbury has now passed the halfway stage.

The housebuilder is delivering a total of 379 new homes over the developments at The Spinney and Copthorne Keep in the town and has now built 202 of these properties.

The developer has built 98 of the 215 new homes at Copthorne Keep, off Copthorne Road, which will provide a mix of 170 for private sale and 45 designated as affordable housing for local people.

At The Spinney, off Oteley Road, the housebuilder is providing 164 new homes – 139 for private sale and 25 as affordable housing. Here, all of the affordable properties have been finished, alongside 79 of the private homes.

Marie Richards, Sales Director of Bellway West Midlands, said: “Work is progressing well at both of these very popular sites in the delightful town of Shrewsbury with more than half of the homes now built.

“Copthorne Keep is transforming the site of a former barracks in the town and that historical link has created a lot of interest. People love the heritage of the development and families are drawn by the good local schools and the fact that the town centre is only a mile away.

“At The Spinney, there has been strong demand from a wide variety of buyers attracted by the range of two, three and four-bedroom homes available as well as the development’s convenient location, just over a mile from a retail park and a 15-minute drive into the centre of Shrewsbury.”

Construction work is due to end at both sites by 2024. There is currently a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes available for sale at both developments, with prices at The Spinney starting at £217,995 and £236,500 at Copthorne Keep.
