New Show Homes Launched at Rupert Bear Inspired Development in Canterbury

This week, Barratt Homes unveiled its first show homes at The Woodlands, a brand new development just outside of Canterbury. Surrounded by ancient woodland and rich in biodiversity enhancing measures, the brand new four-bedroom detached Chester and three-bedroom semi-detached Maidstone show homes at The Woodlands have been designed by Show Business to draw upon their natural surrounds to illustrate family life at the development.

Having launched to the public in January, both properties have been dressed to demonstrate modern living using complimentary colours, the Chester designed with inky blues and greens, and the Maidstone in blush pink with ochre accents.

Both homes are designed to demonstrate the lifestyle available at The Woodlands, both featuring a family room to the front of the property, and the kitchen to the rear. The Chester’s large farm-style kitchen includes a family table, ideal for dining and entertaining, while French doors open into the garden. The Chester’s spacious living area has been dressed with a mix of colourful textures and prints, from the plush butterscotch sofas to the contemporary triptych prints hung on the wall.

Tristan Evans, Group Business Development Director at Show Business, comments: “These homes are ideally designed for modern life, from the spacious family rooms with wide doors leading into the garden to the well-proportioned and private bedrooms. Our goal was to bring these properties to life and make a visitor immediately feel at home when they step through the doors. Each property has been designed with laid back luxury in mind – relaxed, but with a little bit of glamour that peeks through statement stripes and flashes of gold. Our new palettes invoke warmth and calmness, leaning on soft earthy shades of pink, green and clay, and to create mood we’ve positioned table and floor lamps throughout”

Each property’s base colour palette been thoughtfully constructed to complement the natural light from the large windows and French doors, while earthy colours and wood have selected for the hard furnishings as a nod to the woodlands from which the development draws its name. The Chester’s main bedroom includes a leaf-print feature wall, while textured fabrics and earth-tone prints create a personal touch in the Maidstone.

The pièce de résistance, however, is the Rupert Bear inspired bedroom in The Chester. The beloved character, designed by local artist and author Mary Tourtel, comes to life in this woodland themed room, designed around Rupert’s iconic yellow colouring, and is complete with signposts to familiar settings from the comics. The wider development nods to Mary Tourtel’s legacy, with road names at The Woodlands themed after Rupert Bear.

Visitors to the brand new show home at The Woodlands can find out more about Barratt Kent’s sustainable construction measures and energy efficient design, including fuel-efficient boilers and high levels of insulation which ensure that a new Barratt home is up to 58% cheaper to run than the same sized older home with modern day improvements. As such, new homeowners at The Woodlands could save up to £2,600 on their energy bills each year.[1] Furthermore, electric vehicle charging points will also be installed throughout the development, including to individual homes and in visitor spaces.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt Kent, comments: “No two buyers are the same, which is why we are proud to present two brand new show homes at The Woodlands. Each property has been designed with its own unique colour scheme and furnishings, however, sociable and family living remains at the heart of both of these homes, reflected in the open plan kitchen and living area, spacious lounges, and easy access to the garden.

“Life at The Woodlands has never felt more attainable, with all of our properties now able to purchase using a five per cent deposit with Deposit Unlock, while key workers are eligible to receive up to £25,000 towards their deposit.”

Currently available at The Woodlands is a collection of three and four-bedroom homes. Prices start from £369,995 for a three-bedroom home.
