A US home builder is making life easier for potential home buyers by making plans and models of their new designs available to them so that they can design their own homes to their exact specifications.
America's Home Place is setting up in both rural areas and those nearer large towns and cities, in the hope of attracting more business.
The idea is so successful that Jeff Bailey, manager of one of the centres, says, "We're changing our location from storefront to model centres."
Rather than buyers selecting their own home design to be built on a plot of land designed to be used for the development of the company's own homes, the service is aimed at people who already have the land and are just looking to build on it. Many people, from property developers to single investors, are using the service.
"Our sales were up 16 percent in 2007," says Bailey, and considering the state of the economy in the US at present, that is deemed to be a huge success.
