But, as always price is a subjective thing, it varies according to where you are and what demand is doing. On the forums it is difficult to find many optimists as far as the UK property market is concerned.
A new post this week on singingpig.co.uk typifies the dilemna. Forum member estate agent posts that demand for property has not let up and prices are set to rocket and that if you are not in property now then you are set to lose a lot of money in the next ten years.

Replies point out that there are fluctuations according to type of property and location. Property man says flats in many areas have lost a lot of their value yet detached properties have seen values rise.
The thread also shows that the main issue concerning those wishing to buy now is finance. It is a Catch 22 situation, according to Aldric Alphonse, as there are undoubtedly bargains around but it is more difficult to get a mortgage because of the credit crunch.
What kind of property to buy is exercising members of totallyproperty.com and a post by kk1974 raises the wisdom of buying off plan in the UK. The post raises the question of whether or not promised re-sale values and rental incomes are realistic.
The replies on the forum are very negative. Opinion from other members is to avoid off-plan 'like the plague'. They report that offplan/new build flats in cities like Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds have been selling for half their original selling price and one member claims 'buying off-plan for profit is madness'.
Overseas concern has been raised on the Channel 4 homes forum about the situation for foreign property investors in Turkey who want to sell. Stu H has alerted forum members to news on the Herriyet online news site that the Turkish Government has temporarily suspended the purchase of property by foreign nationals.
Information is scant. Members of the forum suggest this is not the first time this has been done. One says it is to put a stop to rampant high density development along the coast. Bluntyboy reports it is a temporary measure and that it will only last until June or July 16th but doesn't say where this information comes from. One to watch perhaps!
On the same website is a delightful and informative thread from forum member Anke. Started last year when Anke bought a plot of land in Montenegro to build an eco house, it has developed into an interesting thread packed with information on the ups and downs of dealing with planning and building regulations as well as lots of other red tape.
The thread has questions from other forum members who have also invested in Montenegro and includes replies from Anke as well as information about the progress of various initiatives in the country and even weather reports – it's warm and sunny at the moment.
It is an insight into the way officialdom works in Montenegro and the lack of information about building. There is great excitement when Anke finds a 'code for sustainable homes'. As the post says it is a case of being 'budget small, but lots of energy and zest'. Just reading it makes you bubble with enthusiasim.
The latest post this week reports information from the International Montenegro Conference about massive investment from the Government to attract upmarket tourists. Yes, golf courses and marinas are on the way.
Finally this week problems with estate agents in Spain are exercising a lot of time on eyeonspain.com. This weeks postings on real estate company Atlas International stands as a warning to all overseas property investors to make sure they take proper legal advice when buying.
This sorry saga shows that many Spanish owners are locked in a legal battle after being apparently sold homes with no deeds. As is the nature of these forums, it is a mixture of fact and rumour, but also informative. Some of the posts are very detailed and it is clear there are some very unhappy people out there.
