People who normally take a trip and therefore leave their houses empty for 15 to 30 days at a time could save 15% on their home insurance policy due to the pandemic, data from Quotezone.co.uk shows.
By updating their insurance policy to indicate that the property will no longer be empty for that period due to the pandemic, those who venture between 30-60 days could save over 19%.
Greg Wilson, founder of Quotezone.co.uk, said: “It’s obviously a challenging time so it’s good to have the opportunity to pass on some advice on how to save.
“We would always recommend keeping your insurance provider up to speed with any changes in your circumstances – in some cases, it could help to lower your premium, as we’ve seen in this instance, but more importantly your policy is accurate so that it remains valid if you need to make a claim.
“Households are under a lot of financial pressure at the moment, which is why we’ve been digging through the data to see how they might be able to reduce their outgoings.
“In fact, when we created our price comparison platform we had the same aim in mind – to give customers the tools they need to find better deals on their home, car, travel and pet insurance.”
