SpareRoom unveils cheapest and costliest places to rent

Galashiels in the Scottish Borders (£266), Lisburn in Northern Ireland (£317) and Craigavon in Northern Ireland (£324) are the cheapest places to rent a room in the UK, SpareRoom research has revealed.

The costliest places are Jersey (£784), Twickenham (£684) and Barnet (£666), both in London.

South London’s Abbey Wood (£533) is the most affordable place to rent across London

The average UK room rent (excluding London) has increased by 2% (£484) compared to this time last year.

In contrast, the capital’s rents haven’t moved year-on-year – quite a difference to the 4% increase seen last quarter (Q3 2019 vs Q3 2018).
