The Yorkshire appoints non-executive director

Yorkshire Building Society has appointed Catharine French as non-executive director, who will join the society on 1 April 2020.

French spent 16 years with Barclays and since 2016, has been the chief administrative officer and a member of the executive committee for Barclays UK.

Prior to that she gained experience working for the Treasury Select Committee at the House of Commons on economic and regulatory issues and in management roles with both the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority.

John Heaps, Yorkshire Building Society’s chairman, said: “We are very pleased to announce Catharine as a new non-executive director.

“Catharine will further strengthen the board with her broad ranging skillset, which covers areas such as brand and marketing, strategy, governance and control, communications and citizenship.

“She will also provide valuable insight into the complex regulatory and political environment within which we operate, based on her previous experience.”

She brings significant experience in relation to brand, marketing, corporate social responsibility and internal and external stakeholder engagement.

In addition to her recent experience in the financial services sector, she also has extensive knowledge of the regulatory environment in which we operate through her previous roles.

Catharine will also become a member of the Remuneration Committee.
