Toronto adjacent areas the most sought after in Canada

Whitby in Ontario is Canada’s highest demand housing market, where properties only stay on the market for an average of 24 days, analysis from Viewhomes shows.

Whitby is just an hour’s drive east of Toronto, while the property markets are similarly competitive in neighbouring Oshawa (28 days) and Clarington (29 days).

It’s a similar case west of Toronto, as homes in Halton Hills (27 days) and Brampton (29 days) don’t stay on the market for long.

They are more competitive with Toronto itself, as properties in Toronto Central stay on the market for an average of 43 days.

Liam Cope, real estate expert, said: “As we enter 2025, the data reveals a striking divergence in housing demand, with Halton Hills experiencing record growth while King and Brock face declining interest.

“It’s worth noting that only a handful of areas saw faster home sales, indicating a slower market overall at the end of 2024.”
