UK Marriott hotel portfolio being sold for £500 million

A portfolio of 15 purpose-built Marriott-branded hotels totalling 3,230 rooms are up for sale for £500 million.

The hotels are: the 191-room AC Hotel Inverness, 181-room Moxy Glasgow Merchant City; 243-room Moxy Glasgow SEC, 230-room Moxy Edinburgh Airport, 118-room Moxy York; 190-room Courtyard by Marriott Chester City Place, 243-room Moxy Birmingham NEC, 210-room Moxy Milton Keynes, 214-room Moxy Bristol, 164-room Moxy London ExCeL, 437-room Moxy London Heathrow Airport, and the 208-room Moxy Southampton.

Kerr Young, head of UK national hotels at JLL, said: “This represents a high-quality select service UK hotel portfolio that benefits from a well-invested and scaled in-house operational platform underpinned by best-in-class brand recognition under Marriott’s powerful global distribution platform.”

Vastint is an international investment group linked to Swedish retailer IKEA.

Properties are sustainable, as they all hold Green Key and LEED or BREEAM certifications, while they have an average build age of just five years.

Phil Shields, head of UK real estate M&A at KPMG, added: “This portfolio offers significant embedded growth potential and operational upside, underpinned by sustainability and scale — an exceptional proposition for strategic investors.”
