Over 40% of buyers in UK view six or more properties before making a decision

Four in 10 home owners in the UK viewed six or more properties before buying their last home and that 80% viewed more than three properties, new research has found.

Buyers in the South East of England seem to need the most choice with over half, 51%, viewing six or more properties, closely followed by buyers in the South West with 48% doing so.

In contrast, home owners in the North West were the least likely to view this many properties with just 30% and buyers in Wales were the most likely to purchase the first property they saw with only 16% doing so.

The research from Your Move estate agents also found that February is one of the busiest months of the year for people viewing houses. February has 10% more viewing than January, March or April, and viewing in the month are 15% to 20% higher than the summer months and 55% higher than December.

‘Even though some home owners are lucky enough to fall in love with the first or second property they view, the majority take more time to make an offer on the perfect home,’ said Oliver Blake, Managing Director at Your Move.

‘The results of our survey show that many home buyers are rightly being careful about making one of the most important financial decisions of their life,’ he pointed out.

‘February is typically the busiest month of the year in terms of online viewings being booked for Your Move and could be good news for those looking to sell their properties now,’ he added.
