The street with the most expensive homes in Scotland is in St Andrews, the home of golf, while Edinburgh has the highest number of pricey streets in the country, new research shows.
The appropriately named Golf Place, a short walk from the famous Old Course in St Andrews, has an average house price of £2,179,000, according to the research from the Bank of Scotland.
It is near the 18th hole of the world famous golf course and has magnificent views of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club and West Sands beach. It is also within walking distance of most of the major attractions in St Andrews.
However, it is Edinburgh that dominates the top 20 table with the highest number of expensive streets in Scotland. Aberdeen now only accounts for four of the prestigious locations and Glasgow now has five compared to three last year.
Edinburgh’s most expensive residential street is Ettrick Road with an average house price of £1,899,000 and it is also the second most expensive street overall in Scotland. Regent Terrace, is the second most expensive street in Edinburgh with an average price of £1,371,000 followed by Heriot Row at £1,334,000.
In Aberdeen Deeview Road South is the most expensive street in the city with an average house price of £1,232,000 while in Glasgow the most expensive street is Capelrig Lane with an average value of £1,550,000. It has only seven individually designed homes.
‘No location in Scotland is on par with St. Andrew’s when it comes to the nation’s most desirable addresses,’ said Graham Blair, mortgage director at the Bank of Scotland, adding that it should come as no surprise that Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow all dominate the list of most expensive streets in Scotland.
‘What is surprising is that there are only 14 locations outside of the big three cities that appear on the list within the top 100,’ he pointed out.
Grange Road, next door to Earlsferry Links golf club in Elie, Fife, is next on the list outside of the top three cities, with homes costing an average of £878,000 while across Scotland, there are 93 streets with an average price tag of over £750,000.
