Property sales registered in England and Wales exceeded 100,000 in October 2017 with an 8.5% fall in the sale of new homes, the latest official data shows.
Of the 101,008 sales registered some 74,649 were freehold, a 9% increase on October 2016,
11,949 were newly built, a 8.5% decrease on October 2016, according to the figures from the Land Registry.
The figures shows that there were 22,849 detached homes registered, 25,558 semi-detached houses, 26,394 terraced homes, 19.048 flats or maisonettes and 7.159 other properties.
Some 479 were of residential properties in England and Wales for £1 million and over and
253 were of properties in Greater London for £1 million and over while three were of properties in Greater Manchester for £1 million and over.
The most expensive residential sale taking place in October 2017 was of a flat in the City of Westminster in London for £15,750,000 while the cheapest was a terraced property in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, for £18,500.
The most expensive commercial sale taking place in October 2017 was in the City of Westminster, London, for £148,922,635 and the cheapest commercial sale in October 2017 was in Taunton Deane, Somerset, for £100.
