Homebuilder invests over £33 million into Berkshire town

A homebuilder has invested £33 million in services and infrastructure for Wokingham as part of two new developments in the town.

Bovis Homes is building new homes at its Emmbrook Place location as part of a wider scheme of 760 homes with Linden Homes’ Copsewood development. Both developers sit in the Vistry Group.

As part of the planning agreement for the two schemes, the company committed to contributing a total of approximately £34.2 million towards services including health, education, roads, and sports facilities.

The vast majority of these payments have now been made, with £1.2 million remaining to be spent on maintaining areas of open space.

Amber Bowley, regional sales director for Vistry Thames Valley, said: “This is a significant sum of money that will make a big difference to the area by supporting the services and infrastructure elements required by the more than 700 new households living in Emmbrook Place and Copsewood.

“While Copsewood has now sold out, there are still homes available to buy at Bovis Homes’ Emmbrook Place and when the last properties there are occupied the new community will be complete.

“As a responsible homebuilder we see the value in making sure the schemes we create are sustainable developments that are well supported so that people living there not only have a quality home to enjoy but are served by all the services they need to live well.”

Among the payments already given are £7.9 million for education, £7.9 million for strategic transport, £7.8 million for affordable housing, £2.1 million for sports facilities, more than £510,000 for healthcare, and more than £470,000 for community facilities. Money has also been spent on roads, allotments and libraries.

Copsewood is complete and only four homes remain for sale at Emmbrook Place.

Construction work on the new homes is due to be completed by the end of the year
