Durden & Hunt has acquired South Essex estate agency Diggins & Co, bringing the Rochford and Rayleigh-based firm into its growing network. The deal gives Durden & Hunt coverage across every Essex postcode.
The acquisition follows the opening of Durden & Hunt’s Broadway West branch in Leigh-on-Sea in July. The agency will now manage all its South Essex operations from this office.
Integration underway
Durden & Hunt has begun integrating Diggins & Co’s operations, transferring properties to its website and major property portals. Darren Diggins, who founded the firm and operated it for 40 years, will continue to support the business as a consultant.
The acquisition marks the latest stage of Durden & Hunt’s expansion across London and Essex. The agency has opened seven offices in seven years and plans further growth.

The move comes as England property listings surged 16% in early September, suggesting increased market activity in the sector.
Further expansion planned
Durden & Hunt is targeting further expansion outside Essex. The firm plans to open a new branch in Stoke Newington, north London, and intends to increase its presence in Ibiza.
The consolidation in the estate agency sector continues as firms seek to expand their geographic reach and market share. Other agencies have also been strengthening their operations through strategic appointments and network expansion.
Hunt added: “We have ambitious plans for Durden & Hunt. We’re continuing to look at opportunities where we believe we can bring something different to the market, invest in great people and provide clients with a genuinely better property experience.”
The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation in the UK estate agency market, as established firms seek to expand their geographic footprint and service offerings.
