Seminar held for Leeds landlords worried about enforcement

Landlords with properties in Leeds can attend a seminar next week in-person and online to get clued up on enforcement activity in the city.

The council’s officers conduct three inspections every working day, issuing enforcement actions on at least one property daily. Often these are to prohibit the landlord’s property from use or to issue fines worth tens of thousands of pounds.

Phil Turtle, director of Landlord Licensing & Defence, said: “The event is free because we want to reach out and educate landlords about the issues they face in Leeds before they are caught lacking.

“It’s important to appreciate that landlords everywhere in the UK will also face similar issues as enforcement teams target private landlords – and leave them open to massive fines.”

He adds: “Landlords will learn the information they need to protect themselves and explain what the teams are looking for.

“We will also explain how they should deal with an enforcement team and their little-known legal protections – which can be a game-changer if they are subject to enforcement procedures.”

The seminar will boost understanding, and provide first-hand accounts of landlords who have faced enforcement action.

It will teach landlords about the upcoming Renters’ Rights Bill and licensing consultations.

Landlord Licensing & Defence will host the free event, which takes place on Monday 25 November 2024 at 6:30 pm online and at the Valiant Suite, 6-7 Park Place, Leeds, LS1 2RU.
